The system works. Just not for you.
What follows is the actual position, written once, so we never have to perform it in a pitch.
Then two things changed at once.
The first is that the mechanical half of this industry stopped needing people. Versioning, resizing, cutdowns, subtitling, localisation, first-pass research, reporting assembly — the work that used to fill a junior team’s week and a client’s invoice — now takes hours. Agencies know this. Very few have passed the saving on, because the saving is the margin.
The second is that the senior people worked out they could be reached directly. The creative director whose work you admire is one message away. The only thing standing between you and them is a layer that exists to prevent exactly that.
Duck The System is what happens when you remove the layer and keep everything else.
On the black bars
The obvious questionYou have noticed that a site arguing for transparency will not tell you who runs it. That is a fair thing to hold against us, so here is the straight answer.
The people in this network are working professionals. They have contracts, employers and clients of their own. A public website naming them, or naming the brands they have worked on, costs them their job. Not metaphorically — actually.
So there are two versions of this business. One puts logos on a homepage and staffs your account with whoever is available. The other keeps the senior people and accepts that it cannot show off. We chose the second, and the black bars are the price of that choice, paid by us in credibility rather than by you in quality.
The redaction ends the moment you are in a room with us. First call, faces on, NDA if you want one, unredacted work, the actual people. That takes about a day to arrange.
